Speechless...

Went to a wonderful event today. A local Pet Food Store had a get together called "Meet the Breed and Fall in Love". Not just greyhounds, but all kinds of dogs were there. Got to see my buddy Dave-O. Dave-O holds the record as a foster at my house. He was here for 9 months! I am so glad I got to see him and get some good kisses.

There was a fellow greyhound owner there with her newly adopted girl. They adopted this senior brood momma last October. (For the life of me, the name escapes me) They had lost both of their greys within 3 months of each other to osteo. Now why does it seem that this demon cancer follows some families? She told us today that in December this lovely senior lady had a nipple that was bleeding. Turns out it was breast cancer. They removed the tumor and said they got good margins, things were looking up. A couple of weeks later she started the dreaded limp. Yep, you guessed it, she has osteo. I had to walk away, I almost started crying...why? Will they ever find a cure for this demon cancer?

Just When You Think You Are Dealing With It...

I asked yesterday when I was preparing the dogs breakfast, "where is Dixie's bowl?" It will be 3 months ago tomorrow, I lost my girl.

Leavin' on a Jet Plane...hopefully

Well, my friends, I just haven't been too motivated to post much lately. For those of you that follow my "dog blog" know that I have had an extra dog here since August. His name is Jax. You would have to read the earlier posts to know the whole story and it is way to long to go into it here. Anyway, I got word last week that his family finally has a house in Honolulu and will take possession of this house on February 15th! This picture was taken out of the window of the plane we were on when we went to Maui in 2009. This is the big island as we had to switch planes there.

Anyway, please keep your fingers, toes, paws and everything else crossed that this works out for the family and they will soon be sending for Jax. The mom told me that her and the kids are flying out on Valentines day and as soon as they purchase some furniture and other necessities, they will get him on a plane.

I still miss my Dixie girl...

Have A Greyt Day!

Sadie is in her favorite spot. The couch, of course! My furniture has kind of seen better days and I would love to have something new. I am thinking about leather. Any of you out there have leather? And cats???

My Boo

Look at that face! Who couldn't love that? Well, evidently several families. You ever have a dog that has touched you in a special way? I think they all do, but this guy is special. He had been returned not just once, not twice, but three times! The first and second time were legitimate. Well, as much as they can be. His owner was single and had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She just couldn't care for him. The second time, the dad in the family became ill and los this job. They had children to raise, so they opted to give up Bluto. They were devastated. But the third time, ugh, they just didn't have time for him.

Bluto had been at my house many times during his life with the third family. I dog sat for him while they were away on vacations and one time when we had a horrible ice storm and most of us were without power. So when they said, come get him, now...he came to my house. I wanted to keep him so bad, but it just wasn't in the cards. He developed a problem where his toes kept dislocating. After much consideration, we just fostered him for a while. Bluto got adopted and is now living with a lady and he is the center of all of her attention.

Buddy and I will be attending a meet & greet in Owensboro this Saturday and I jokingly said I would love to see him. Well, low and behold, the person running the greet has him at her house!!! WHAT? I must put my hands on this boy and give him some lovin'. His new owner broke her wrist, so he is on vacation at a friend's house. To say this is the highlight of my week would be an understatement. I absolutely cannot wait to see him. To see if he remembers me. I know I will probably be a blubbering mess, but look out Bluto, here I come!!!

Buddy here. I am not happy with what my humans have done to me now. Why do they think I like this hat? Oh well, Merry Christmas!

What's This White Stuff?

Buddy wants to know, who turned off the big glowing thingie in the sky? And what is this white stuff? Never had any of this in Florida! It makes me want to run around the yard and act all goofy!
