Saturday Visit
Today was a good day. I got to go visit with my Buddy Boy, now known as Peyton. Buddy got adopted last October and now lives in Louisville. My friend, who happens to be friends with Buddy's new momma, was heading that way to meet with a pet communicator. So I hitched a ride!
I wasn't sure what to expect. I mean, I hadn't seen my Buddy Boy since October. I had my plan. Walk in, don't speak and see if he notices me. Well, he did!!! He missed me!!! Buddy just about knocked me over he was so excited. We got to bond. He laid beside me on the floor and I got to smother him with love and attention. He was so cute though. He kept going over to his new momma like he was saying "I didn't forget you, you are still my momma". Man I miss that dog.
It is a rare opportunity that you get to see a previous foster in their new home. I was very lucky. Lucky to be a part of his life. Lucky to see that he did remember me. Lucky to see how much he is loved in his new home. Today was probably one of the most rewarding days in my "foster mom" history.

Front Yard Fence!
We have lived here for 16 years. I have been wanting to fence in the front yard from day one! From the front you can't tell that the house has a walk out basement. To get to the back yard, there are 13 steps involved. You either go down them inside or outside on the deck. With aging dogs, stairs are starting to make me very nervous. Tom has stumbled several times recently. Hannah, the new foster is one of two dogs that I haven't been able to train on the stairs.
Looking to the left here, the front yard will have a gate to get into the back yard. This will make it possible to bring the dogs in down stairs by just going down the hill. Not to mention just being able to open the front door and let them out to potty! Of course, the next 5 day forecast is freakin' rain!

Happy Birthday Tom!
Last Saturday, March 3rd was Tom's 12th birthday. I purchased this adorable collar with birthday cupcakes on it. I thought since it was blue, it made it more masculine.
He got some good canned dog food on his breakfast and dinner. Then for dessert I made him some doggie cupcakes. I won't even bother with the recipe because they were a disaster. They were so hard that I had to just let him lick the frosting off. Poor guy, his teeth are in bad enough shape, I didn't want to chance it on a hard cupcake! Happy Birthday to my baby boy. You've come a long way baby!!!

Husker Hannah
Meet Hannah. Husker Hannah that is. She came to stay with us Thursday (3-1). This isn't the best picture, I know. As you can see it didn't take her long to get comfy. This was taken about 30 minutes after her arrival.
Hannah is kind of pittiful. She was a super good racer and then a brood mom. So now it's her turn to be spoiled. She has already lost a lot of her teeth and is still really skinny. Kind of a nervous girl and absolutely hates the stairs here.
Story is that she was on the hauler to go to the east coast. When they stopped to put more dogs in the hauler, they noticed she was super stressed. They contacted the group she was supposed to go to and explained the situation and decided it was best she stay behind. When she was brought up north, she got to ride in a van. She still wasn't too crazy about the ride, but she fared much better than in the hauler.
Hannah was in another foster home with several other greyhounds and other dogs. She does great with the cats. She is, however, a little protective of her space. She loves attention and is such a sweet girl.
