Traveling!

It's about that time again.  Time for the Howliday event put on by GPA Emerald Coast.  In the past my sister and I have attended this event together.  However, with her move to Georgia and the passing of her greyhound, she won't be going with me this year. 

Since we haven't had a real vacation since Maui, Sadie and I talked hubs into tagging along.  We will be staying the entire week and this will be his first ever greyhound event.  He normally isn't available in the fall to go to the events that I like to go to.  I really am glad I don't have to make the 9 hour drive by myself.  I'm afraid my co-pilot Sadie wouldn't be very good at keeping me awake!

Sadie is tired of being cold.  We are ready to visit the Sunshine State, soak up some rays, walk along the beach and have some fun!

Heaven's newest angel, Tom.  Another beautiful soul lost to Osteo.  Run free my buddy.  My first greyhound.  The one who started it all.  The last of the original pack.  I will miss your bunny soft fur and your nose bops.  Find Dixie and Brett and have a reunion.

Not sure if you all can see this heart on this brindle girl or not.  This is Felicia who stays with us whenever her family travels.  She is 9 years old and has been in her home almost 2 years.  Such a sweetie.  Love her.  Happy Valentines!!!

Boris

 

 

I keep putting off posting this, my fur-nephew Boris, passed away on December 27th.   He was my Sadie's travel partner for Howlidays.  Sadie is the black girl in the picture.  My Boris was a beautiful fawn boy.   He was also my sister's first attempt at fostering.  He had been returned 3 or 4 times before he found his home with her.  Sad part to this story, my sister had taken a job in Georgia in June and had been home several times to visit.  Most recently she was home for Christmas.  The day after Christmas she left to go to the airport.  When I went to pick her up, I knew something was wrong.  However, they told me they thought it was his arthritis.  When I called to let Mom know that I had made it back from dropping my sister at the airport in Louisville, she decided we needed to take him to the vet the next morning.  She called me very early and told me that he passed in his sleep that night.  He had just turned 10 in June.  We will never know what really happened, which makes me feel guilty.  Run free Boris, I'm sure there were lots of greyhounds there to welcome you. 

Party Animals

 The hounds around here are party animals for sure!  Felicia, our house guest, almost got lost amongst the blankets and wrapping paper.

Tom, aka Santa's Helper, is worn out from all of his duties.
