Traveling!

It's about that time again.  Time for the Howliday event put on by GPA Emerald Coast.  In the past my sister and I have attended this event together.  However, with her move to Georgia and the passing of her greyhound, she won't be going with me this year.

Since we haven't had a real vacation since Maui, Sadie and I talked hubs into tagging along.  We will be staying the entire week and this will be his first ever greyhound event.  He normally isn't available in the fall to go to the events that I like to go to.  I really am glad I don't have to make the 9 hour drive by myself.  I'm afraid my co-pilot Sadie wouldn't be very good at keeping me awake!
Sadie is tired of being cold.  We are ready to visit the Sunshine State, soak up some rays, walk along the beach and have some fun!

Any of my friends that have travelled with their hounds have any tips please feel free to leave me a comment.  You can also e-mail me at macmadday@aol.com.  This is our first real vacation with a hound in tow.  I have already started making my list!

  1. Oh, I'm so jealous! I would love some time with the hounds in Pensacola this year. You are bound to have a fun time! Be sure to let us know your opinion because I really want to go next year.

  2. Oh, I envy you!

As far as tips go, take along some really excellent canned food. Ours become very picky eaters when travelling, but a spoonful or two of Merrick's feast in a can gets them motivated to eat. Taking along a little water from home doesn't hurt, either.

  3. Warm weather and greyhound fun! Sounds perfect. Our tip is take along at least one spare leash/collar/harness. I ended up having to wash a leash out in the sink when it accidentally dipped in some poop while we were on the road. Oh yeah and empty plastic garbage bags. You never know what you may need to seal up until you have a chance to clean or wash...

  4. All our vacations for the year are planned around the pups, including a few greyhound events. We're lucky that we don't have to plan around the school year :)

  6. I have found that my greys travel better than I do. Regular stops for pee and food from home is the main items to remember.
