My Brett

This week marks the passing of my beloved Big Brett. It has been four years. I can't believe it has been that long. He was my special boy. My first attempt at fostering. Yep, I'm proud to say, I failed.

A little history on Brett. I first met Brett at a meet and greet. The president had just picked him up from his owners. They returned him because he kept peeing on the diaper bag and getting dirty diapers out of the trash can. Lame. He walked by me and I really didn't give him much attention.

About a week later, I get a call that the foster home where he is needs some room. I thought, how hard can this be? Little did I know. He walked in that front door and never left. He was asleep on the floor before the lady every got back out the door. A perfect gentleman. My shadow.

He was a fair complected dog, but loved the sun anyway! Brett was kind of a sad story. Not only had he been returned once, but three times. Well, I made up my mind, he would not be returned again! He was a one in a million dog. We lost Brett very unexpectedly. I was devastated. He was my BooBear. For so long I was angry at the people for returning him. But I finally realized, that he was meant to be mine all along. Run free my buddy, I miss you!

A Couch to Call His Own

Ulrick got adopted! The family who took care of him while I was out of town decided he was a keeper!!! Funny thing is that Ulrick and Mo, their other greyhound, are like a pair of bookends. They look so much alike, the could be littermates. Seriously. We were at a meet and greet yesterday and someone asked if they were related. Well, it turns out that they have the same great-grandfather. I'm sure that makes them some kind of cousin. So here I sit, waiting for my next foster. Felicia will be here next weekend for a few days. Other than that, it is pretty quiet around here. Congrats to Ulrick! He deserves a good family to love him forever!

Friends

How can one dog who you have never met touch you so? I find myself thinking that today. A greyhound friend through Facebook lost her beloved boy, Drew, today. I have cried and cried over this loss. Why? I have never met him or his human. But yet I feel so connected to them. I came home for lunch to give the hounds an extra hug. All my friends out there, give your hounds some extra loving tonight.

Lazy Days...

Tom and Sadie napping together. Tom is usually a touch-me-not. I can't believe he laid there with his leg around Sadie's neck. They are so cute together. Not much else going on around here these days. Ulrick is still hanging out with the family who watched him while I was in Atlanta. I am hoping they adopt him. He seems very happy there and their dog is loving having another companion. I am still waiting for a new foster.

In the meantime, I found this recipe a long time ago for a "frosty paws" treat. I haven't tried it yet, but thought I would share anyway.

32 ounces of vanilla yogurt
1 banana
1 cup peanut butter melted

Blend together and pour into individual containers and freeze. Let me know if you make them and how your hounds like them!
